Its Raining ICS tablets

Yes you heard it right Karbonn another Indian mobile phone vendor has launched its tablet in the market the SMART TAB 1. Yeah and no wonder its powered by an 1.2 GHz processor and it has to offer ICS. From the initial looks it looks like a good 7 incher with higher battery backup than Micromax Funbook and 5 point multitouch display it looks like they have a winner in their hands if they price it right say well below Rs. 9000 and around Rs. 8000 marks they have a winner in hand.

Well things look bright on the spec sheet but they haven't yet launched the detail specs of the tablet. Tablet looks good with no physical buttons like on the micromax one and its battery backup seems to be a huge plus at this movement.

It also has the better 2mp front facing camera than micromax funtab and has a WiFi b/g/n and 3g support via usb dongle which seems bit odd on the tablets but never the less has a support for the same. With 32 gb expandable memory, full HD playback good battery life it seems like they have a winner in hand if priced right and I hope they will.

Its looks like all Indian mobile vendors are going to launch their alteration of ICS tablets so wait for sometime and you will have bunch of them to choose from.

Micromax Funbook

Micromax the worlds 12th largest mobile phone seller from India has launched its first ever tablet the FUNBOOK. Yes it is an competitive market and there are many established players in this tablet world but none of them are able to price the right formula. the aakash the lowest of lowest and the Ipad the highest of highest are unusable and out of reach respectively of many prospective buyers of tablets.

Then there is a micromax who i think have perfectly blended the right formula. a tablet which is perfectly usable with 1.2 ghz of processor the mali 400 dual core Gpu and 512 mb of ram and not to forget the latest android on top of it. The android 4.0 ICS is a big boost for a tablet. and this combination performs much better at a price point of Rs. 6499.

The pros are many but there are some downsides also.

First and foremost the battery life which is claimed to be @ 5 hours of browsing. I don't get it have to test the real unit before commenting on it but the battery life can be a problem in this funbook . 

Second one are the oddly placed buttons. this tablet looks like a upgraded version of the 2.3 GingerBread tablet. ICS is after thoughts. The buttons looks odd on the devise with Ice Cream Sandwich on it due to the on screen back and home keys of ICS.

Third and not the least the Screen Resolution its not good enough for 7 incher and there should be some improvement on that front in the second revised edition

But none the less you are getting a ICS tablet at 6499 and thats great we cant expect much more at this price point, the future of micromax is bright and its going in the right directions. and who knows in the future we will get a ratina display tablet at the same price point.
